Chaos Control Originals

Introduction

Being a major fan of the Unstable Games company and community, I've recently got into designing and hand-drawing custom characters/expansions for the pre-existing games. From Botanical Beasts in Here to Slay to a Wendigo in Twisted Cryptids, I've spent a lot of time designing various cards to incorporate new elements and possibilities into your games.

The Twisted Cryptid expansions (Wendigo & Thunderbird) are available as of writing this post, though, the others are simply proposals! Caddy will be released soon, and is currently in the works.

**Though, everything I've created is unofficial and fan-made, therefore I nor Unstable Games makes profit off these cards, and all art designed was drawn by me, not the UG team. These characters/cards are simply me designing and implementing my own ideas into the games, unofficially.

Find each game category listed below in terms of expansions and custom characters.

Here to Slay

Botanical Beasts Expansion Pack

I am a proud plant parent of 30+ houseplants. In this deck, there are a total of six beasts inspired by various plants and botany. Each creature has a unique ability to add strategy to your gameplay; slay them to acquire their perks!

Thornhide Bramblebeast - A hulking form of tangled vines and thick, thorned branches. Defensive and territorial. (You may discard a card for an action point once per turn, and pull a card from another player's hand).

Bloomveil Stalker - A graceful predator disguised behind a beautiful, flowering mask. Elegant, but a deadly ambush hunter. (Each time one of your Hero cards is destroyed, you may play a magic card from your hand immediately).

Mycelion Colossus - A towering fungal giant connected via hivemind to his smaller, lesser mycelial minions. Slow and clumsy, but packs a punch. (When you successfully slay a Monster card, you may attack another Monster card immediately for no extra action point once per turn).

Cacterror Senteniel - A stout, heavily armoured desert beast covered in thick spines. A durable tank. (Each time you DRAW an Item card, you may use it immediately).

Kelproot Leviathan - A massive sea serpent composed of kelp strands and rootlike tendrils. Fluid, ancient entity; evasive. (Each time a player (including you) plays a Modifier card, you may DRAW a card).

Hollowbark Warden - A wise, solemn, territorial protector. Seemingly passive until provoked. (Each time you Challenge a card, +1 to that roll).

Racoon Artificer

Casting Shadows

Onyx Kaelthorn: Spend 3 Shadow Energy to transform into Shadow Form.

Onyx the Scourge Tail: Spend up 3/4/5 Shadow Energy to deal up to 3/4/5 damage to any hex tile in range.

Character Starting Hex: The River Styx. (Or The Underworld Graveyard?)

Onyx, the manticore of the River Styx, is a creature whispered about in fearful reverence. His fur drinks in the dim light of the riverlands, while his barbed tail glints like a poisoned blade under the sky. He prowls the jagged banks where the Styx coils through blackened stone, guarding something unseen - perhaps a forgotten relic, or a secret older than the river itself. Those who wander too close speak of glowing amber eyes watching from the mist, and the low, rumbling growl that echoes long after Onyx has vanished back into the gloom.

Twisted Cryptids

Wendigo

RAGING SPIRIT: Scare 1 Human and Extract 2 Humans.

A wendigo is a terrifying creature from the folklore of Algonquian-speaking Indigenous peoples, often associated with the deep forests and harsh winters of northern regions like Canada. It is typically described as a gaunt, skeletal being with glowing eyes, elongated limbs, and an insatiable hunger for human flesh. More than just a monster, the wendigo represents the embodiment of greed, starvation, and the loss of humanity - often said to be created when a person resorts to cannibalism or becomes consumed by selfishness and excess. Legends warn that once someone becomes a wendigo, their hunger can never be satisfied, growing stronger the more they feed, trapping them in a cursed existence of endless craving and isolation.

Thunderbird

ZAP!: Extract 1 Human and Lure 2 Humans.

A thunderbird is a powerful and sacred creature found in the traditions of many Indigenous peoples of North America, especially among Plains and Pacific Northwest cultures. Often depicted as a bird with immense wings, it is said to create thunder with the beating of its wings and lightning with flashes from its eyes or beak. The thunderbird is typically viewed as a protector and a symbol of strength, commanding the skies and battling dangerous spirits or water creatures to maintain balance in the world. Rather than a creature of fear, it is often revered as a guardian spirit - both awe-inspiring and benevolent - representing the raw, untamed forces of nature and the spiritual power that governs them.

Caddy / Cadborosaurus

Slither!: Attract 1 Human and Scare 2 Humans.

Cadborosaurus - often nicknamed “Caddy,” - is a sea serpent-like cryptid said to inhabit the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest, particularly around Cadboro Bay. Descriptions of Caddy vary, but it is commonly portrayed as a long creature with a horse-like head, a series of humps or coils along its body, and a sleek, serpentine form adapted for swift movement through the water. Sightings date back to Indigenous oral traditions and continue into modern times, with reports from fishermen, sailors, and beachgoers who claim to have seen the creature surface briefly before disappearing beneath the waves. While no scientific evidence confirms its existence, Cadborosaurus has become a staple of regional folklore, embodying both the mystery of the ocean and the enduring human fascination with creatures that may lurk just beyond our understanding.

Mystic Moon

Nyxira ("Nyx") - Dreamscape Witch

Nyxira ("Nyx") | Special Trait: Refresh - At the start of your turn, you may discard up to 2 ingredients, and draw the same amount of ingredients.

Nyx is a gentle, spacey... and oftentimes forgetful soul. She is quite grumpy if woken up abruptly.  She speaks in soft, slow sentences - and sounds as though she's on the verge of a nap. Nyx enjoys collecting good dreams on her dreamcatchers and replaying them on projectors. She doesn't enjoy confrontation, and so avoids conflict - but fear not, nightmares protect Nyxira by handling that part for her.

Here to Slay DUNGEONS

Gizmo / Racoon Artificer

Health: 3

Movement: 4

Ability | Scrap Surge: On your turn, create a Trash Trinket (represented by a token) that has 1 HP. Place the Trash Trinket on an adjacent tile. These Trash Trinkets cannot move, however, enemies will attack them first if they are the closest target. You may not have more than one Trash Trinket in the dungeon at a time. Trash Trinkets cannot deal DMG.

Marsh / Axolotl Shaman

Health: 4

Movement: 2

Ability | Spiritual Renewal: When an ally takes DMG, on their next turn, if they attack the enemy who attacked them, you may grant them an additional 1 DMG to their attack.

Thanks for making it this far! If you have a favourite expansion concept, let me know in the comments. I will do my best to make it a reality! (Or, if you have additions/refinements to add/remove to the expansions... that's also helpful!)

I will keep you posted on progress via posts, so make sure to keep an eye out for new updates (including unofficial art).

Cheers!
